First Solar Arizona Super Bowl XLIX
The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee recently announced the latest corporate sponsor to
join its team. From its headquarters in Tempe, First Solar develops, designs, constructs and operates utility-scale photovoltaic
(PV) solar power plants around the world, with sites in Arizona that include: the Agua Caliente Solar Project
outside of Yuma, the Paloma Solar Project in Gila Bend and the Avra Valley Solar Project near Tucson.
“It is exciting to partner with a locally based business that plays a major role in bringing clean, renewable
energy to the world,” said Jay Parry, President and CEO of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee. “The
NFL is committed to environmental responsibility and First Solar is an outstanding example of achieving a
sustainable business built on green principles.”
The partnership includes numerous opportunities for First Solar associates to participate in community
service projects sponsored by the Host Committee, as well as support activities at Super Bowl Central in
downtown Phoenix during the week leading up to Super Bowl XLIX. First Solar will also join other Host
Committee partners in corporate outreach activities, including the Visiting CEO Forum, that position Arizona
as a vibrant and robust business environment.
“We are proud to claim the Valley of the Sun as our home and our associates are eager to show their
ongoing commitment to the local community,” said Georges Antoun, First Solar’s Chief Operating Officer.
“This is an amazing opportunity for us to give back to Arizona through volunteer activities, while being part
of the larger effort to welcome the world to our home town. First Solar is also excited to work with the Host
Committee on a special civic project to commemorate the 2015 Super Bowl. We will unveil that surprise in
the coming weeks.”
